Adding audio to my blog, what a fun assignment! I decided to create my very own talking avatar using Voki. This service allows users to create a custom speaking avatar that you can save, send or embed in a blog like I did! I created Lily the Library Fairy.
I can think of many ways to share this technique within my classroom or school. How about a morning message; a greeting that plays to welcome parents to Open House in the Fall with key points about our year/expectations; Introducing a new theme or unit. This could be a great tool to really capture the students attention!
Head on over to http://www.voki.com/ to start creating your own talking avatar!
What kind of avatar will you create?
I like the Library Fairy idea! I had trouble with getting Voki to save my work, and started over twice before giving up on it. Yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like the welcoming Fairy on your blog. Great eye catcher as I opened up your blog!
ReplyDeleteMrs. Williams,
ReplyDeleteI did mine a couple of times also! You have to select publish and then embed the code as HTML in your post. If you want help, contact me at hdrin001@odu.edu .
That is too fun! I really want to play around with that now!
ReplyDeleteI created a voki also. Isn't it so much fun! I wasn't able to change my avatar to something as cute as yours. I will have to go back and try again. I was thinking of using this to start units as well. I am sure the students will love these and will have just as much fun making them.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I checked out your Voki--cute! When you are creating your Voki there are categories above the VOKI character display. Just click the left or right arrows to change the category to something you like. There are tons of free ones. I chose my fairy from the fantasy category. Keep me posted on any ideas you have for implementing and I will do the same.
DeleteThat is cute! Kids would definitely get a kick out of using and listening to VOKI avatars.
